Jayson Hemp is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance, with over 800 hours of instructor training. He has been actively teaching at local studios in Silicon Valley for five years, both virtually and in person. He received his initial training through the Joy of Yoga program with Jennifer Prugh and Noell Clark. Additionally, he's studied sequencing with Jason Crandall, Yoga Biomechanics & The Science of Stretching with Jules Mitchell, Yoga Deconstructed with Trina Altman, Restorative yoga with Judith Lasater, and Aerial Yoga with Leila Caldera & Sarah Khayat.
Yoga has helped Jayson manage the stress and demands of college, life in general, and throughout his professional career as a software test engineer. He also found that it complimented his outdoor running and bicycling activities. Going through teacher training has deepened his practice beyond yoga as exercise, and has led to self-reflection, practicing mindfulness, undoing old patterns and is applying the philosophy of the eight limbs of yoga to his daily life. He draws upon multiple styles of yoga such as Hatha, Vinyasa (movement with breath), Iyengar (alignment, using props), Ashtanga/Mysore, and meditation. He also will sprinkle in aspects of energy flow from Tai Chi and Qi Gong. When you attend one of his classes, he strives to create a relaxing and inclusive space with soothing background music, and will provide options or variations to poses throughout your session to enable you to explore how your body feels and moves. Past participants have mentioned feeling calmer and more relaxed afterwards. His philosophy on and off the mat is that yoga can be accessible by anyone. |
